Global Organization for Security and Intelligence IOSI

ABOUT US

IOSI is a society-focused organization shaping security and intelligence and is committed to promoting and enhancing international security. IOSI is in part consultancy, part lab, and part think tank. We develop practical solutions to current and emerging security threats; by those means, we assist the public sector, the private sector, and civil society to effectively further public safety, democracy, and human rights.

WHAT WE DO

IOSI is dedicated to providing relevant and up to date expertise regarding security and intelligence at all levels – nationally, regionally, and internationally. We stand with pride, passion, and commitment to secure fundamental rights and common interests across borders regardless of cultures, religions, and ethnicities. In the same manner, we provide top-level training and advising; running seminars, workshops, and conferences, among other activities, are part of what we do.

WHAT WE DO

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to strengthen public security and advance national, regional, and international cooperation across the public sector, civil society, and the private sector – with a strong sense of respect for human rights, law, and democracy. In doing so, we aim to foster debate on global and human security topics for the creation and sharing of informed knowledge. Our core values are Excellence, Sustainability, Integrity, Development, and Teamwork.

OUR VISION

Our vision is to have a global community in which governments, international public institutions, civil society, and the private sector duly cooperate to prevent international security threats and effectively address them.

OUR VISION

OUR VALUES

Excellence | The highest possible standard of performance and service, with a sense of duty and honor.
Sustainability | A balance between law, order, and justice.
Integrity | Independent, apolitical, ethical, and lawful.
Education | A learning organization that evolves and educates with informed discussions, debate, and decision-making.
Teamwork | We join forces and build relationships with the public sector, the private sector as well as with our partners given our shared vision in security, mission, and values.

ON THE PATH TOWARDS GLOBAL SECURITY

Human security and transnational crime have emerged and evolved as stakeholders’ predominant concerns in the public and private sectors. This organization steps in as a timely actor by bringing together a plethora of world-renowned experts, law enforcement, and government officials alongside corporate leaders to effectively address narco-terrorism, organized crime, terrorism, and drug-trafficking, among other threats affecting countries worldwide. Today, the economic reality behests public-private partnerships and collaborative opportunities for training, especially on the issues of crime, terrorism, and other security concerns. IOSI has not only delivered a vast wealth of intelligence; it provides effective programs around global security, and it has assembled a special breed of collaboration which is required to address issues in security and intelligence effectively.”

Armando Figueroa

Director General de la Kapé-Kapé

Kape-Kape has oriented her fieldwork to identify and address the most urgent needs of indigenous peoples located in the Bolívar, Amazonas, Monagas, and Delta Amacuro, mainly where indigenous communities live Yekuanas, Jivis, Pemon, Piaroas, and Warao, among others. Kape-Kape observes and documented an unprecedented situation related to the mining of "bloody diamonds and gold" of Orinoco. Indigenous peoples living in Delta Orinoco's vast area are exposed to actions and factors of violence and abuse. By officials or government sectors, criminal groups organized, or by environmental predators. Constant turbulent aspects of modern society have dramatically aggravated the living and survival conditions of Indigenous peoples of Amazonia. Special mention deserves the serious Venezuelan political situation, deeply marked by a violent division among the national population, dramatically affecting these indigenous peoples. The most vulnerable groups in the country are indigenous communities. Global society does not having registered an actual dimension of the consequences to these peoples—the particularities of violence and even killings of indigenous people by legal and illegal miners. Even by state agencies - for the control of gold and diamond deposits explored in their regions. Kape Kape is working hard to bring a testimony of this organized genocide.

Johan Obdola

Founder IOSI

Johan Obdola - born and raised in one of the few Venezuelan indigenous communities - has dedicated his life to fighting narco-terrorism, terrorism, and transnational crime. His commitment to wage an enduring fight against narco-terrorism as well as the illegal trafficking of drugs has proven to halt significant developments in such industry. However, there would be no end to the “cartels” if countries do not show true political will to collaborate among themselves. This issue is embedded in the economic, political, and social field. Indeed, failing to protect our nations means living in extremely challenging and unsafe communities as seen across the world…

Wolfgang Rehak

President at Global Organization for Security and Intelligence IOSI

On 2nd June 1956, Prof. Rehak was born into a prominent academic family in East Berlin. Under the guidance of his chemist father, Prof. Rehak developed a passion for chemistry, which he pursued at the Humboldt University of Berlin until he finally attained a professorship just before the age of 30. After spending several years in academia, it became clear to Prof. Rehak that knowledge must reach the global public to transform the common fate of humankind positively. Together with six like-minded friends, Prof. Rehak founded the Opto-transmitter Environmental Protection Technology e.V. (hereafter OUT e.V.) in 1991. Following the milestone of OUT e.V., Prof. Rehak has recognized his outstanding interpersonal skills, which have earned him the reputation of “the most successful salesman in Silicon Valley” among his business partners. Since then, Professor Rehak has been establishing knowledge-driven entities aiming to unite international talents with ingenious ideas for more than 20 years. He is a steadfast practitioner of eye-level communication due to his genuine interests in people and solid personal integrity. Having lived in three continents and frequently travelled himself, Professor Rehak is well equipped with intercultural competence. Professor Rehak’s incessant efforts led to establishing the Network for Systemic Integrated Safety Monitoring (hereafter ne-sis) in 2004. One of the most important initiatives implemented by ne-sis is European Aviation Security Center e.V. (hereafter easc e.V.) based in Schönhagen. It serves as the international bridge between inventive companies and academic institutions to develop sustainable aviation security policies. Prof. Rehak launched several research networks in the ensuing years, spanning across the fields of tunnel security (tusec in 2007), safety for underground transport systems (siu-x in 2010) and visual security technologies (nost in 2012). Prof. Rehak has been continually challenging the border of knowledge and contributing to groundbreaking inventions. He is one of the masterminds behind Firewatch, a modern instrument against severe deforestation resulting from bush fire based on the optical sensor system (OSS) with unprecedentedly wide detection area (up to 15km). A 30% reduction of burnt area owing to the Firewatch technology was testified by the Brandenburg Statistics 1992-2011. With the hands-on experience of running easc e.V., Prof. Rehak has acknowledged the pressing need for swift development in the international air travel industry. His relentless research eventually gave birth to Gate of Trust TM, a state-of-the-art that tremendously harmonizes fundamental airport security procedures and prioritizes passengers’ feelings to ensure a smooth business operation. The latest challenge undertaken by Prof. Rehak goes to his IOSI presidency. He duly follows in his father’s footsteps, who dedicated his lifework to the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (hereafter NPT). Prof. Rehak is a resolved advocate for ultimate nuclear disarmament: “Never again!”. From the first day of his presidency, he will execute a refreshing and aspiring Global Project: IOSI ATOM. Together with the dynamic IOSI network of experts, Prof. Rehak is now ready to embark upon this new journey in the name of global peace.

THE COMMITTEE OF WOMEN IN SECURITY AND INTELLIGENCE (CWSI)

The Committee of Women in Security and Intelligence of IOSI is aiming to empower young professional women to join, learn, exchange ideas, share knowledge, and develop theoretical initiatives regarding best practices in security and intelligence.

The initial objectives of the CWSI:

The initial objectives of the committee are but are not limited to discussing, developing, and promoting security and intelligence initiatives. The intention is to create awareness about current trends and issues in the field.

We aim to foster such an environment by providing seminars, webinars, conferences, workshops, and training in this one-stop-shop not-for-profit organization. Participation in international and local events will be discussed and approved by the committee.

The benefits for members of the CWSI:

  • Professional learning through constant participation with respected professionals in the field.
  • Leadership development and in-depth access to current security and intelligence topics.
  • Expansion of your professional networks.

The leading topic in the CWSI:

The Committee of Women in Security and Intelligence of IOSI will be focusing on Gender-Based Violence (Violence Against Women and Girls) as the leading topic of discussion for 2021. Because of the growing situation on this matter, it is time to focus on this subject mainly; violence against women and girls continues to be one of the most pervasive manifestations of discrimination and human rights violations. Members of the CWSI govern and develop the engagement of the general public in IOSI’s global projects.

The Committee of Women in Security and Intelligence of IOSI (CWSI), alongside with a helping hand of technology, will aim to bring progress and solutions, on any scale, to combat Gender-Based Violence. This issue should be considered a global pandemic, given that it affects 1 out of 3 women in their lifetime.
